We Value You

We Value You
Kim Stroud, MA, LMHC
HR Director

There are countless articles that tell us that an employer’s investment in wellness will lead to lower health care costs, improved productivity, and greater employee satisfaction. We could point to the dollars saved when you, our employees, complete Qualifying Events. We can give you testimonials from your co-workers who tell us they appreciate having access to Personal Trainers, Nurse Advocates, and education at the worksites. But that’s not why we invest in wellbeing.

When you feel secure in your physical, emotional, financial, social, and career wellbeing, you do better work. You are more focused. You bring your best self to work and you naturally exhibit the ACE philosophy. We appreciate that, but that’s not why we invest in wellbeing either.

We do it for you.

We value you. As a person. As a member of the community.

The other things – the reports, testimonials, and surveys – they support our investment from a business perspective, but we do it because its’ the right thing to do.

We are all people. Whether you’re digging ditches, answering telephones, helping the disadvantaged in the community, leading meetings, leading projects, or leading people, we are all human beings. And human to human, we want you to be the best version of yourself so that you can succeed in everything you decide to do.

So, we have compiled all of the benefits that are offered to you as an employee of Manatee County Government and put it into a booklet.

These benefits are categorized by the five pillars of wellbeing:

  • Physical: We offer benefits that help you ensure your physical self is healthy and that your goals related to your physical health are supported. This includes the medical, dental and vision plans along with fitness, nutrition, and disease management.
  • Emotional: Your mental health is critical to you and the work you do. We offer resources to help you manage stress, anxiety, depression, work-life balance, and larger issues such as addiction, thoughts of suicide, and dealing with grief.
  • Financial: When you feel financially secure, you are better able to enjoy life and focus on your work. We offer benefits to help you manage your money and plan for the future so you can feel secure knowing you are paying yourself first.
  • Social/Community: We know that social and community involvement supports overall wellbeing and builds valuable connections. We offer many opportunities to get involved with co-workers and the community.
  • Career: We want you to continue your career with Manatee County and continue serving our community. Therefore, we offer a variety of career-building benefits like leadership training and skill development.

I invite you to take a look at these benefits. Utilize them. Take care of yourself. Because you’re not just important to our mission at the County - you are important to your family, friends, community, and to us.
